I’m Lara, a science teacher streaming FREE live lessons for Home Educators. They’re for all ages, they’re award winning… and they’re free! It’s a weird business model but it works!

I teach a weekly all-ages science lesson, an IGCSE Physics lesson and a Lego Story Show. I’ve worked closely with the Home Education community to meet their needs; children do experiments with household objects alongside me, there are free print outs, and EVERYTHING is available on catch up!

It works because most people chip in £5 a month towards my wages. This is optional! Supporters receive Theatre of Science Magazine (a fantastic, rather sporadic publication), rainbow glasses, and deep gratitude! Sign up here.

*This is something husband said you had to have on a website, I’m not convinced I’m ever going to get round to emailing anyone.

Picture the best bits of school science lessons - enthusiastic teacher, fun practicals, questions that rigorously check understanding - combined with the best bits of home learning! We’re not tied to time, or panicking about tests; we can dig into the details, linger on the fun bits and go off topic..! And it’s ALL free!

These lessons are designed ESPECIALLY for Home Educated children. I pick out key points from the National Curriculum and GCSE syllabuses, then research the subject from all angles, finding / inventing activities that work with household objects. I don’t assume any prior knowledge. Join in live or watch on catch up, I know home education is all about flexibility!

All-ages science lessons

IGCSE Physics lessons

I’m trained to teach all science subjects, but physics is my specialism. My free, live IGCSE Physics lessons cover all the content required by the Pearson/Edexcel and Cambridge specifications. They’re an experiment; this is the first time I’ve taught IGCSE where I can’t see the students! The course started in Sept 2022 and will end some time in 2024, then loop round again! Jump in anytime. Some students are preparing for imminent exams, some are just along for the ride. That’s the joy of it being free; there’s no pressure on the kids to attend and you’re not losing anything by having a go!

A free, live chat about whatever my audience convinced me to research this week! I lead you through an activity I’ve found / invented which uses household objects, and we take a very deep dive into black holes, woodlice, volcanoes, axolotls, big cats, cake… you name it we have, or will cover it! The show ends with a story told in Lego. This show turned science communication into a full-time job for me; I started it in the first week of lockdown and have never looked back!
